Welcome to the blog for Mrs. Ruth Raws. Mrs. Raws has been diagnosed with cancer and we are asking our family and friends to pray and encourage Ruth and the girls.
Here is what I received from Cherri last night which explains Ruth's diagnosis and treatment plan so that you can pray more intelligently:
Dear Friends and Family,
I (Cherri) am writing this for Mom, since I seem to be the resident medical person (sort of). We just got home from the surgeon's office, where we got the report on Mom's biopsy. Mom does have cancer (that's the bad news).
The good news is that it has been detected very early. If you want to look it up, it is called ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), grade 3. The grade 3 part means that it is a more aggressive form of DCIS, so the doctor wants to do a further lumpectomy next Monday, which will include checking the sentinel lymph node for signs of cancer cells. Most likely there will be no need of further surgery beyond that.
The next step will be radiation therapy for 6 weeks and then going on a drug such as tamoxifen, since the cancer is hormone positive.
Mom is doing well with all this, although it is very hard coming on the heels of all that she went through this summer. she seems more worried about how we are handling yet another parent having an illness. She is very comfortable with her surgeon, who has been highly recommended by many people. Dr. Schneider is not only an excellent surgeon but also a very compassionate person.
Thank you for your prayers, love, and friendship,
Cherri
Your blog comments will be a wonderful encouragement to Ruth and the girls. Thank you.

And you know that if I can do anything at all to help, you need only ask. God bless you and keep you close to Him in the coming days.

Mum: I know Bill included me in his note earlier, but I wanted you to hear it from me as well, that we will pray you through this. We love you and look forward to many more days to serve together here at America's Keswick. God is able and we have both witnessed that in our lives this summer.
Much love and prayer,

Hi Ruthie...
I always have trouble with these blogs...I know what I wanna say, but I freze up...(that's somethin', eh, Me freezing up and not being able to say something !)
Most everybody writes somethin' Real Spiritual, but I can only write what's on (in) my heart.
You know our hearts -- that we've known and loved you for over 40 years (and still do) !
I told Chris this afternoon...she saddened up, but then brightened up and said that She Knows The Lord Will Be Caring for You....(out of the mouth - of - Herbie) (I bet folks reading this will wonder who or what "Herbie" is) ...
We're praying that you will feel the Hand of Jesus guiding the doctor and your follow-up-treatment people.
We're praying, too, for peace and strength for your Sweet Girls and their Families...You've got a bunch of Beautiful People in your corner !
Luv ya much,
Paulie & Chrissie
PS: I'm trying to send this, but it keeps bouncing it back to me...not my fault if it comes up 2 or 3 times !!
Hi, Ruth:
I wanted to let you know that you and the girls are in my thoughts and prayers. As I was reading this morning, one of the verses in Psalm 61 really stood out to me.
From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
I'm praying that the Lord will give peace and strength for each day and that He will give much wisdom to the doctors who care for you. What a blessing to know that we are in His hands every step of the way.
Love and hugs,
Susan
PS - It was nice to see you and Karen so early this morning! :-)
Dear Ruth and Girls,
We are currently in Indianapolis. I'm sorry we're so far away, Ruth, what a special time we had with you this summer.
It is early in the morning, and I'm looking at the neighbor's tiny puppy on the patio next to their RV. He is so tiny, but he has figured out that his help and his food come from inside that RV. So he sits patiently in front of that door, waiting for his sustenance for the day.
Years ago I wrote a poem that said:
I sit at your feet.
Into your face I stare.
The real meaning of me
is someplace in there.
I fix my eyes on You,
My reflection then I see.
The image cast from Your eyes
Is not my picture of me.
When I look into my mirror,
I see everything that's wrong.
When I look into Your eyes,
I see someone you've made strong.
My sin, my failures, my shame,
Are not shadowed in Your face.
I see the cross, the pain You bore
Radiating to me Your grace.
M.W.H 1992
Ruth, our prayers will support you as you sit at His feet.
We love you so much.

Dear Ruth...I pray for you always and now will add this to my list...I hope God will give you the strength you'll need to get through this...I know He is able..God bless, Melanie Vara (Whiting Bible)
Dear Ruth,
It was such a joy to meet you and I'm seeing your beautiful smile in my mind's eye while praying for you. You and Pastor Bill have been such powerful examples of these verses:
"Blessed are those who trust in the LORD and have made the LORD their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they go right on producing delicious fruit." Jer.17:7-8 NLT
(The Message adds "the woman who sticks with God") Thank you for being that example.
Praying that you will continue to sense His blessing especially in the form of His Peace and Strength in these days ahead as you have that total trust in HIM.

Mrs. Raws, WE Will continue to keep you in Prayer. What an example you are to me in all you have gone through in recent days. You have been a like spiritual Mother to me and I am so thankful to the Lord for you, and know you are in HIS Love and Care. Thank You
Marilyn and Billy J.
PS Remember, what we prayed! The Lord knows your Desires and I believe will see them through!
DEAR RUTH, WE ARE KEEPING THE POOL WATER COOL AND ARE PRAYERFULLY WAITING FOR YOUR SOON RETURN...tom...
Dear Ruth, You have been much in my thoughts and prayers this weekend. I am thankful for your surgery going well and pray that the report will give us reason to rejoice in God's plan for your life . You have been a blessing to us all and a testimony to the power of God to sustain and give peace even in times of grief. It was a joy to share dinner with you Sunday. Love and big hugs, Faye's friend :o)
Dear Ruth,
Praise the Lord that you have come through the surgery without complicat ionsGod bless you.I continue to pray that the lab results will indicate you are to be cancer free after subsequent treatment. The Freedom Fighters are praying that God will give you a complete recovery.Alfred Barrett
Dear Mrs. Raws and family,
Just want you to know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. May God continue to sustain you and bring about complete healing in the days ahead.I thank you and your family for their encouraging words and prayers on George's behalf. He is doing ok but we have a long road ahead. But God is good and we know that this is the path He has chosen for us to follow. Proverbs 18:10 says, "The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous man runs into it and is safe." It is through these times of testing that we grow closer to God, for He is the only one who can and will see us through. He is our strong tower--there is no safer place to be than in His arms.
Love and prayers, Janet and George
